Christina N. Gray

Christina N. (Nelson) Gray, age 102 of Mankato, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. service on Sunday. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis on Monday, December 28 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: “Frank and Laura Nelson Memorial Fund”   in care of YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities at 2125 E. Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55402

Tina was born December 6, 1913 to Frank and Laura Nelson in St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated with a Social Degree from the University of Minnesota.   Tina then worked for the St. Paul YWCA until her marriage to Edward (Ted) Gray on April 11, 1939 in West St. Paul. She was a former member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in St. Paul. She was an avid card player and loved Minnesota sports. Tina loved spending summers at the cabin that she and Ted built near Orr, Minnesota on Kjostad Lake.  

Tina is survived by her two children, William “Bill” Gray of Mankato, Barbara Wenschlag of Pequot Lakes, MN; four grandchildren, Julie (Hank) Wagner, Eric Wenschlag, Elizabeth (Brian) Luepke, Adam (significant other, Nikki Krebs) Gray; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander, Jonathan, Abby, Carter, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Avery, Nathan and Annelise; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ted” in 1996; nine siblings; daughter-in-law, Mary Gray in 2004; great-granddaughter, Rylee.
