Robert Thomas Hintze, age 65, of Eagle Lake, died Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Clair with Rev. Robert Schneider, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Eagle Lake Fire Department, or the Dance Conservatory of Southern Minnesota.
Robert was born August 4, 1950 to Harlan and Loretta (Teynor) Hintze in New Ulm. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1968 and later South Central Technical College. He was united in marriage to Monica K. Swenson on June 5, 1971 in Luverne, MN. He began his career with the Mankato Citizens Telephone Company in 1970, now Consolidated Communications. He was currently working in the COE Department, in his 45th year of employment. He considered his co-workers as his extended family. Robert was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a retired member of the Eagle Lake Fire Department from 1976-98. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, four wheeling, hunting with his son, but most of all he cherished his time with children and his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Monica of Eagle Lake; son, Chris Hintze of Eagle Lake; daughter, Lisa (Jason) Hammond of St. Clair; daughter, Lana Hintze of Eagle Lake; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaylee, Anna, and Carter Hammond; sister, Mariann Guentzel of Motley; special cousins, Mary (Bob) Schaefer, Rick (Joyce) Leither, John (Debbie) Leither; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Loretta Hintze; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Cecilia Swenson; brother-in-law, Joseph Swenson.
