Dorothy Minnie Bohlke

Dorothy Minnie Bohlke, 92, of Decoria Township, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Autumn Grace in Mankato.  

Prayer service at 12 noon, Monday at Mankato Mortuary with visitation two hours prior. Private family burial will follow at Decoria Cemetery.  

Dorothy was born August 11, 1923 in Old Mapleton Township to August and Anna (Denn) Kunz. She attended country school in rural Mapleton and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. On August 28, 1948, she married Warren Donald Bohlke in Mapleton. Their marriage spanned over 60 years until his death in 2008.  

After living a brief time in Mankato, they lived in Decoria Township where she resided until the last year of her life. Her last months were spent in the attentive care of Autumn Grace. Dorothy loved sewing, crocheting, and embroidery. She will be remembered for her many beautiful quilts, afghans, and rugs that she gave to her children and grandchildren. Over the last few years, she volunteered at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton helping to create quilts that were donated to mission projects.  

She is survived by her children, Dale and Sandra (Jensen) Bohlke of New Ulm, Dennis Bohlke of Phoenix, AZ, and Donna and Douglas Holt of Mankato; 8 granddaughters, Angela Bohlke, Elizabeth Bohlke, Kristy Hottinger, Laurie Adams, Nichole Hottinger, Hannah Holt, Jennifer Fleckner, and Brittany Richardson Bohlke; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcella Ulman, Viola Johnson, and Kenneth Kunz, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna; husband, Warren; and siblings, Leonard, Rosalia Krengel, Mildred Gerholz, and Roland.
