Laura “Laurel” (Watts) Beil, age 77, of Mankato, passed away peacefully November 19, 2015, at Cottagewood Senior Communities. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

The youngest of six children, Laura was born October 15, 1938 in Butternut, Minnesota to James Clarence and Bertha Elizabeth (Holcumb) Watts. She grew up on the family farm south of Mankato and attended Mankato West High School where she met the love of her life, Martin Beil. They were married in 1957 and lived in Mankato and St. Clair before settling in rural Mapleton on a hobby farm where they lived for 36 years. Laura was a fulltime homemaker raising their two children and loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She took painting classes later in life and created many beautiful floral paintings reminiscent of her garden.

Laura is survived by a daughter, Laurie Greeninger (Tom) of North Branch; a son, Marty Beil (Stacey) of Mankato; four grandchildren: Dawn Braa (Matt) of Chaska, Lucas Dimmel (Samantha) of Janesville, Nathan and Logan Beil of Mankato; great grandson, Carter Braa of Chaska; and many nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 2011; her parents; and 5 siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Dave Laughlin officiating at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be in Decoria Cemetery, rural Mankato.
