Schmidt, age 56, of Mankato, died on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from health complications at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Minneopa Cemetery. Paul was born on March 6, 1959 in Mankato to Paul S. and Lois (Koch) Schmidt. He graduated from Mankato West High School in 1978 and the Alexandria Technical College in 1986 with a degree in Avionics. After college, Paul moved to Florida for a short time and then returned to Mankato. Paul loved birds, especially his parrot, Coko. He collected World War II memorabilia and collected coins. He enjoyed old movies, computer games, and reading. Paul is survived by his parents, Paul and Lois Schmidt of Mankato; two brothers, Doug (Tammy) Schmidt of Mapleton and Brad (Tara) Schmidt of Lake Crystal; six nephews, Dustyn, Dillon, Dalton, and Dawson Schmidt and Zachary and Caden Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
