Mankato Mortuary 1001 N. Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 (507) 388-2202 Karsten Keith Severns, age 83, of Kasota, died Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Mankato Seventh Day Adventist Church. Karsten was born December 26, 1931, in Mankato. He was the son of Henry and Sarah (Kieper) Severns. Karsten attended Mankato High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948, was stationed in Puerto Rico and England, and was honorably discharged in 1952. Karsten was united in marriage to Beverly Douglas on August 7, 1954, in St. Paul. He was employed with Marigold Dairy in North Mankato for 43 years delivering milk to customers in Mankato, St. Peter, Kasota, Lake Washington, Madison Lake, and surrounding areas. During the last 20 years he switched to retail delivery serving schools, small businesses, and restaurants. Karsten was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mankato and the Mankato American Legion. He enjoyed archery, bow hunting for deer, and duck hunting. Karsten is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bev Severns of Kasota; four children, Deb (Chuck) Throldahl of Mankato, Laurie (Scott) Berg of Eagle Lake, Keith (Karen) Severns of Mankato, and Melissa (John) Hoven of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig; three brothers, Vernon, Eudean, and Elvin; and three sisters, Olive, Noreen, and Grace.
