Northview~North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Charles (Charbel) Sadaka of Mankato MN passed away Tuesday morning October 27th 2015 in his home with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with lung cancer since November 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. "Charley" was born August 16th 1954 in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. He ventured to America as a 17 year old young man looking to start a future for himself and his family. As he arrived in Mankato, he was taken in by his uncle Cub Ferris and was introduced to what he would refer to as his eventual life calling in the restaurant business. He was a graduating student from Mankato State University in International business and accounting where he met and married his future wife of 38 years Gail (Hruby) Sadaka. Charley made a name for himself in the Mankato community with his presence at Cubs Restaurant in the 70's; to Uncle Sam's in the 80's and eventually to Charley's Restaurant and Lounge in 1987, where he became one of the communities' favorite restaurant owners. There wasn't a day that went by that patrons couldn't go to Charley's Restaurant and see his gleaming smile waiting for them at the front door. Charley was a proud member of the Mankato Golf Club where he never missed a Thursday outing with "The Group", He was a long standing member of the lions club and a generous contributor to ALL of the Mankato community. As important to the community as he was, Charley was even more so important to the many family members that he gave the ability of the American dream. He began bringing his 6 brothers and sisters along with his mother and father one by one to America starting in 1978. Charley is survived by his mother, Saada; his wife, Gail; three children, Pierre (Joleen) Sadaka, Nicole (Brian) Wood and Charles Jr; his brothers, Tony and Milad (Rita); his sisters, Marie (Elie) Saker, Eva (Robert) Laroque, Harriet (Jim) Abdo and Souraya (George) Sadaka. Also Charley is survived by his 5 grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Habeeb Sadaka.
