Mankato Mortuary 1001 North Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 507-388-2202 Kathlyn "Kay" LaFavor, age 92 of Garden City, died Monday October 19, 2015 at the Madelia Hospital. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Garden City Christian Church. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Kay was born June 16, 1923 to William and Beatrice (Pitcher) Carey in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kay was united in marriage to George LaFavor on March 8, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kay and George moved to Garden City and started their family. She worked at National Bank of Commerce in Mankato for eight years and then worked for ADM in Mankato form 1963 - June 1985 before retiring. Kay was a member of Garden City Christian Church and served as Deacon, Elder, Treasure and Christian Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (Past President) and the Garden City Sewing Club. Kay enjoyed sewing/crocheting, reading, playing scrabble and gardening. Kay is survived by her four children; William (Carol) LaFavor of Welcome, MN, Keith (Shirley) LaFavor of Garden City, MN, Patricia (David) Rambo of Alden, MN, Roger (Jennifer) LaFavor of Dothan, AL; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, David (Geraldine) Carey of Santa Maria, CA. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, George 2001; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Roy Ferguson; Sister Joyce; granddaughter, Jennifer.
