Lake Crystal Mortuary 648 S. Main Street Lake Crystal, MN 56055 James K. "Bunk" Roberts, age 93, of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Country Neighbors in Lake Crystal. Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Lake Crystal Mortuary followed by a graveside service at the Lake Crystal Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the First Presbyterian Church - Lake Crystal. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice. James was born December 21, 1921 to Archie and Margaret (Cooling) Roberts in Kasota, MN. He served in the US Army from Jan. 16, 1942 - Dec. 8, 1945 in the European Theatre; the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Bunk was united in marriage to Berneatha L. Etherington on June 8, 1943 in Madelia. He worked as a furrier for Izzy Gendler and Land O' Lakes Creamery both in Lake Crystal. He went on to work for Archer Daniels Midland until retiring in 1986. Bunk was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, American Legion, VFW, and the Steel Workers Union of Mankato. He enjoyed gardening, caring for his home and lawn, and trips to the casino. Bunk is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Ted) Pritchard of Lake Crystal; two sons, Rod (Denise) Roberts of Lake Crystal, Todd (Carolyn) Roberts of Savage; six grandchildren, Paul (Amy) Nelson, Michelle (Mark) Hiers, Chris (Nikki) Roberts, Corey (Cindy) Roberts, Cassandra (Alex) Gregor, and Madalyn Roberts; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan, Jordan, Wyatt, Zoe, Elijah, Noah, and Jennifer; nieces; nephews; extended family; and special friend and companion, Vivian Thomas of Lake Crystal. Bunk was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Berneatha on January 16, 1996; son, Scott; great-grandson, Brandon Nelson; son-in-law, Larry Nelson; and siblings, Clayton (Harriet) Roberts, Verna (Arch) Jones, Esther (Ed) Mutch, and Virginia (LeRoy) Larson.
