Ruth Louise Skobba, age 101, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal, MN. According to her wishes no photo of Ruth has been submitted. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m., Sunday at the church. Interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Ruth Louise was born February 13, 1914 to Andrew and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Pries) Luiken at Peotone, IL. She moved to the Lake Crystal area in 1926. Ruth owned and operated Ruth's Hotel for 30 years and also was a real estate broker for many years retiring in 1976. Ruth married George Skobba on February 7, 1963. He died in May of 1985. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the John Roth American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth is survived by one son, Dennis Mikkelson and his wife, Donna of Lake Crystal; three grandchildren, Greg Mikkelson (Ericka Friesen) of Lake Crystal, Shelly Goettl (Roberto Muggli) of Atenas, Costa Rica, Kari Gustafson (John) of Lake Crystal; seven great-grandchildren, Adam (Jasna) Mikkelson of Wellesley, MA, Erin (Marc) Heinmiller of Milford, CT, Laura (Jesse) Tidrick of Clear Lake, IA, Lance (Erika) Goettl of Lake Crystal, Grant Goettl (Mel Sorenson) of Lake Crystal, Leah (Luke) Cornish of North Mankato, and Evan (Chelsea Steinborn) Gustafson of Seattle, WA; six great-great-grandchildren, Alexander Mikkelson, Emma and Connor Heinmiller, Avery and Brynn Tidrick, and Mason Goettl; and nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; and two brothers.
