Northview~North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Carol Ann Spartz, age 78, North Mankato, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato with Rev. Gary Wong officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Carol was born on June 27, 1937 in Wood Lake, MN to Harold and Margaret (Warnke) Gigstad. She graduated from Wood Lake High School and the Mankato Beauty School. On September 30, 1961, Carol was united in marriage to David Spartz in Wood Lake. They were happily married for 53 years. She was a beautician and sold Avon for many years. Carol and David moved to Dublin, OH in 1986 and returned to North Mankato in 2013. Carol enjoyed crafts, watching the MN Twins and traveling, especially motorcycle and RV trips. Carol had a great love for animals, mostly dogs. Most of all Carol loved spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Carol was deeply religious, strong in faith, and loved the church. She was selfless with a compassion for others. Carol is survived by her husband, David of North Mankato; children, Eric and special friend Danielle Timm of Mankato, Wendi (Brent) Franke of Mankato, Steve (Lauren) of Naples, FL, and Gina Spartz-Sparks (Steve) of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Maxwell, and Madeline; siblings, Gene (Jeanie) Gigstad, Nancy (Terry) Rewerts, and Rick Gigstad; brother-in-law, Don Vogl; sister-in-law, Donna Spartz; and dog, Sassy. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nola Johnson and Cheryl Vogl; and brother-in-law, Dan Spartz.
