Robert was raised in Denver but his happiest childhood memories were of summers spent on the family farm in Clyde, Kansas. Known as "Bobo", he was a creative, adventurous, and often mischievous little boy. Along the line, his energy was channeled into music and he became an amazing pianist. His education included Colorado College, Julliard, Yale, and the University of Illinois. He studied under world famous conductor, Antonia Brico, and toured Europe with her at the age of 18. He met and married another amazing pianist, Ann Brainerd, and they began their careers together in the music department of Mankato State University where they both taught and performed for over 30 years. He was father to five incredibly lucky children, who thank God for the honor of being his children. Robert will be most remembered for his sense of humor, his humility, his extraordinary intelligence and wit, and his dedication to his family. Robert's favorite pastimes were watching football, traveling to his farms and spending time with his family.
