Mankato Mortuary 1001 N. Riverfront Drive Mankato, Minnesota 56001 507-388-2202 Edmond "Red" Miller, age 84, of Saint Peter, died Friday, August 7, 2015 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. A Celebration of Ed's life will be from 1- 4p.m.Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Caribou Gun Club in Le Sueur. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Mankato Mortuary assisted the family. Ed was born March 13, 1931 to Nutgar and Mary (Moehring) Miller in Sauk Centre, MN. He graduated from high school and went on to serve his country in the US Army. Ed served from 1952-1960 as a Ranger, while earning the rank of Corporal. On March 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Elaine Lagow in Mankato. Together they were blessed with two sons, though they later divorced. Ed worked for Babcock Stone Co. of Kasota and Lloyd Lumber of North Mankato as a maintenance mechanic. He was a jack of all trades, enjoyed repairing all types of machines, and making things out of spare parts. Ed was a wonderful mentor to his sons and grandchildren, and was always willing to help others. He loved gardening, yard work, snowmobiling, and spending time with his family passing along his knowledge. Ed is survived by his longtime companion, Shirley Hrdlicka; sons, Rich (Jeri) and Gary (Stephanie) Miller; grandchildren, Anna (Ryan) Dunaiski, Merasia Solmonson, Ben Miller, Caitlin Miller, and Megan Miller; brothers, Val, Eugene, and Julian Miller; sisters, Mary Lenertz and Caroline Schalwig; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Vincent, Thomas, and Dave "Crockett" Miller.
