Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Jerome Louis Elfert, age 93, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Paul van de Crommert officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the mass at the church. Memorials may be given to Oak Terrace Assisted Living. Jerome was born April 9, 1922, in St. Clair to John and Mathilda (Wenner) Elfert. He was united in marriage to Viola Weingartz on June 16, 1945, in Mankato. Jerome farmed in the Owatonna and Mapleton areas until 1957. They moved to Amboy, where Jerome was then employed for 32 years with Johnson Implement. Jerome and Viola moved to Mankato in 1991. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Jerome was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his family. Jerome is survived by his three sons, Jerry (Betty Lou) Elfert of Arden Hills, Michael (Maria) Elfert of Bayville, NJ, and Joe (Connie) Elfert of North Mankato; one daughter, Judy Ann Elfert of Danville, MA; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law, William Doyle III of Eagan; also many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola in 1997; son, Benjamin; daughter, Mary Lynn Doyle; and two sisters, Celestine Akemann and Lucille Casper.
