Donald T. Haley Donald Thomas Haley, 86, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Pathstone Living in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 1 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato, with Fr. Paul van de Crommert officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately after the ceremony with burial following at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31st from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Donald was born January 21, 1929 in Mankato, the son of Dennis and Dorothy (Kopp) Haley. He grew up in the Madison Lake/Cleveland area and attended Cleveland Public Schools. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 - 1953 when he was honorably discharged. He married Mary Louise Ulmen on June 8, 1957 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. The couple made their home in Madison Lake for ten years, before moving to North Mankato, and then to Mankato in 2005. Don began his career in the plumbing field in 1960 and worked for Schwickerts Inc. as an apprentice, journeyman, master plumber, estimator and construction supervisor for his entire career, retiring in 1993. Don was a quiet man who enjoyed walking, working in his garage and yard and collecting tools. He especially enjoyed traveling. He was interested in American history and he and Mary had visited all fifty states and the presidential libraries and museums, plus traveling to over fifty foreign countries. Don was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a 60-year member of the American Legion Post in Madison Lake, and a 50-year member of the Plumbers Union. Don is survived by his wife, Mary; two brothers, Walter (Sandra) Haley and Dennis (Carol) Haley, all of Mankato; sister-in-law, Ethel Haley of Madison Lake; brother-in-law, Richard Heitner of LeCenter; sister-in-law, Sister Evelyn Ulmen, SSND of Mankato; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; sister, Leola Heitner; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Gertrude Ulmen; brother-in-law, Paul Ulmen and his wife, Donna; great nephew and great niece, Corey and Jennifer Haley. The family wishes to thank Pathstone Living for the excellent and compassionate care Donald received during his years there. And also the Mayo Heath System Hospice Program for their great and much appreciated help during the last three months.
