Northview - North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 507-388-2288 Richard John Orchard, 64, of North Mankato passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 4-7 at Northview North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service on Friday. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials can also be made online at: http://www.mayoclinic.org/development. Richard was born on April 24, 1951 to Paul and Mary (Gondreau) Orchard in Arlington, MN. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School, Loyola High School and Mankato High, graduating in 1970. Richard was united in marriage to Susan (Faltersack) on May 5, 1973 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, MN. Richard loved spending time at the lake and on the water. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and hunting in Northern Minnesota, as well as the occasional Canadian fishing trip. Richard was a dedicated Minnesota Twins fan. He lived his life rooted in faith, family and friends. His wife Susan of 42 years, his children and grandchildren were the joys of his life. Richard was truly the best "Papa" ever. Richard was employed by Lindsey Window and Door Company for 37 years, and most recently ISD #77 at Monroe Elementary where he loved working with the faculty, staff and students. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Sarah (Benjamin) Jacobs of Madelia, MN, son Jonathan Orchard of Denver, CO and four grandchildren Abigail, Zachary, and Emily Jacobs and Ella George; his sisters Marilyn Orchard, SSND, Carol (Jim) Truax, Joan (Wayne) Finnegan, and sister-in-law Jacquelyn Orchard; his twin brother Robert (Karon) Orchard, and brothers Ronald (Jodi) Orchard, and Michael (Deborah) Orchard; his mother-in-law Bernadine Faltersack; and his many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Richard was proceeded in death by his parents Paul and Mary Orchard, father-in-law Roland Faltersack, brother Thomas Orchard, brother-in-law Dr. Richard Hall and nephew Nicholas Orchard. Richard was blessed to love and be loved by so many and will be graciously missed.
