Meyer, age 86, of Mankato, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at Pathstone Living in Mankato. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, North Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Gerry was born in 1929 to Henry H. and Anna L. (Arndt) Brede in Buffalo Lake, MN. Her family moved to Henderson where her dad owned and operated the creamery. She attended school in Henderson and graduated from Henderson High School in 1947. She was confirmed July 19, 1942 at Centennial Lutheran Church in Henderson. She was an organist for many years at Centennial and belonged to the Women's Aid. Gerry attended Mankato Commercial College for 2 years and worked at the Standard Oil office. In 1949 she was elected Miss Mankato District when Minnesota celebrated its Centennial. She represented Mankato at the St. Paul Winter Carnival and the Minneapolis Aquatennial Parade On September 29, 1951 she married George R. Meyer of Belle Plaine at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington Township. They moved to Columbia, SC where George was stationed in the Army. Gerry worked at Columbia University for the director of admissions. The family moved back to Minnesota and she was employed at the Green Giant Office in LeSueur. They then moved to Mankato in 1955 Gerry was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church where she was active in the Family Circle. Gerry enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling and trips with her husband, George, at the cable conventions. She also loved gardening, following the stock market, modeling, and music. Gerry is survived by her husband, George of Mankato; three children, Doug Meyer and special friend, Beth Andrews of Mankato, Lynn (Todd) Florell of Eden Prairie, and Kristin (Larry) Ehlers of Plano, TX; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Lindsey Ehlers of Plano, TX; sister-in-law, Jean Brede of Minneapolis; two nieces, Julie (Don) Cox and Jana (Brad) Carr; and extended family Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; stillborn son, and a brother, Jerome Brede.
