Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 1001 North Riverfront Drive, North, MN 56003 507-388-2288 A celebration of life for Vida Mae Braam, age 90 of North Mankato will be held at 11:00 a.m.Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Northview~North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery following the service. Vida Mae was born February 4, 1925 in Barron, WI to Frank and Minnie (Cully) Allen. After graduating from Beloit High School, Vida worked at Camp McCoy processing soldier's discharge papers. It was during this time she met her future husband, Edward Braam returning home from WWII. They were married October 12, 1946 and shortly after moved to Mankato to start their family. They had four children, Terry, Michael, Dale and Karen. After her husband's death in 1974, Vida began working with Atlantis Plastics where she retired from after many years as a machine operator. It was then she started to volunteer her time as a foster grandparent, caring for infants. In her free time, Vida was an avid reader, always having a book in her hand. She also enjoyed crocheting and working on puzzles. She loved her family and taught them the values of family and independence. Vida passed away at Monarch Meadows, July 13, 2015 after 90 beautiful years. She is survived by her children, Terry (Ken) Nowacki of Mankato, Michael (Sheila) Braam of Bellingham, WA, Dale (Vicki) Braam of Bellingham, WA, Karen (Allen) Fetchenhier of Janesville; 10 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marian, Alice, Lorie, Nancy and Brenda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and all her brothers and sisters, Alice, Vava, Wilma, Emma, George, Lyle, Frank and Bert.
