Main St. Lake Crystal, MN 56055 (507) 726-6161 Aurice Swanson Gilman, age 96, of the Garden City/Lake Crystal area, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Pathstone Living in Mankato. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Robert Lund, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Garden City Cemetery. Aurice was born September 12, 1918 to Edward and Hulda (Beck) Swanson in Vernon Center. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1936. Aurice was united in marriage to George Milo Gilman on September 10, 1936. She was an accomplished tailor, seamstress, and quilter. Aurice was employed by JC Penney's in the alterations department in Mankato for 20 years. She also was a farmwife, helping out wherever needed on the family farm. After retiring from farming, she and Milo lived in Lake Crystal. In recent years Aurice resided at Pathstone in Mankato. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had volunteered at the Lake Crystal Schools, reading to children. Aurice enjoyed reading, dancing, listening to music, and playing Bingo. Aurice is survived by her four children, Joan (Darryl) Johnson of Tower, MN, Beverly (James) Ziese of Irvine, CA, Edward (Char) Gilman of Nixa, MO, and Gene (Vicky) Gilman of Garden City; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and extended family. Aurice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Milo in 1990; brother, Lyle; and sister, Mavis Purk.
