Northview - North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Mass of Christian Burial for Janet Brumm, age 67 of North Mankato will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary with a 7:00 p.m. rosary. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday morning. A second memorial service will be held Friday June 26, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 4:00 p.m. in Wayne, Nebraska. Burial will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Janet Marie Montag was born August 20, 1947 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to George and Minerva (Bachman) Montag. Janet's life was all about her family and education. Janet graduated high school in 1965 from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien, WI. From there she went on to Wayne State College and graduated in 1969. Janet was able to pass along her love of reading to many students when she was a librarian in Council Bluffs, Emerson and Carroll, IA from 1969 - 1975. In 1976, Janet graduated with a Masters in Library Science from Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. She worked as a librarian with Wayne State College in Wayne, NE from 1976 - 2006. She married Michael Brumm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne, Nebraska May 9, 1981. Together, the couple raised four children. She loved to spend time with her kids teaching them the values of humility and patience. She was a big advocate for those with disabilities and was her daughter Liz's biggest supporter. She loved to watch Liz play in Miracle League and was always improving opportunities for those with disabilities. Janet loved reading, playing games and baking with her grandchildren. Janet was able to travel around the world with her husband Michael seeing many amazing sites. They loved to spend several weeks in the summer road tripping across the country with their kids when they were younger. Janet was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan and caught a game at the stadium with Mike every summer. Janet passed away June 21, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Mankato. She is survived by her husband, Michael Brumm of North Mankato; children, Rebeca (Anthony) Schmitz of Sioux Falls, SD, Joseph (Megan) Brumm of Kearny, NE, Sarah (Matthew) Gaul of Tea, SD, Elizabeth Brumm of North Mankato; grandchildren, Ella Schmitz, Olivia Schmitz, Isaac Schmitz and Destin Brumm; three brothers; three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Living Links Foundation, 1230 North River Drive, Mankato, MN 56001.
