Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Dorothy Constance Bammert, age 88, of North Mankato and formerly of Good Thunder, died Thursday, June 18, 2015, at her home. A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Rapidan. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., on Monday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Family interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Good Thunder. Memorials may be given to VINE. Dorothy was born August 16, 1926 to Adolph and Ida (Vikan) Ostrem in Preston, MN. She graduated from Lanesboro High School, Winona State Teachers' College with her teaching certificate, and later from Mankato State College. She was united in marriage to William N. Bammert on May 12, 1950 at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. Dorothy started teaching in a one room country school in rural Rochester. She then taught at Nicollet and later Amboy-Good Thunder, where she retired. Dorothy was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, the Good Thunder Legion Auxiliary, and the Good Thunder Retired Teachers. She enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing, and especially the Bammert Family camping weekend. Dorothy is survived by her six children, Julie (Frank) Konen of Hutchinson, Jeff (Lori) Bammert of Mapleton, Jodie (Tim) Miller of Mankato, Jane Bammert, Jean Bammert both of Sioux Falls, SD, Jolene (Garry) Fay of Good Thunder; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Ruth) Ostrem of Lanesboro and David (Marlene) Ostrem of Rochester; sister-in-law, Mary (Larry) Lettenmaier of the Twin Cities; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William on July 21, 1975; grandson, Jacob Bult; brother, Richard (Agnes) Ostrem.
