On August 14, 1978, Karl was united in marriage to Jaqueline Ward in Mapleton. Karl graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1980 with a degree in Agricultural Economics and spent all of his life with the Duncanson Growers farming operation. He was involved in many organizations over the years: Blue Earth County Cattleman's Association, Minnesota Corn Growers, Advisory Committee of Southern Minnesota Research and Outreach Center, past president of Maple River Burns Club, and a member of Faith Bible Church. He served many terms on the Maple River School Board and enjoyed following high school athletics. Karl was a blood donor for many years. He was involved with FFA where he met his wife, Jaqueline. Although he was not a veteran, Karl served his country and community in many ways by hanging flags for the veterans and being proud of his right to vote. Karl was a working man. He worked not out of a sense of obligation, but rather a deep commitment to God, his family, his land, and livestock. Although there were chores to do, farming was not a chore, it was his essence and his vocation. There could be messes in the house and the lawn needed to be mowed, but Karl didn't get too bothered, however, should there be a rock or weed in the field, it required immediate attention. Usually, before the sun was up, he had checked his livestock. Because work was a vocation, rather than a business, he was never too busy to ask those he worked with how they were doing or inquire about their family. True friendliness and Christian love were his nature. The only thing that surpassed his love for farming was his love for family and friends and if he spoke with you for two minutes, he thought of you as a friend. Karl is survived by his wife, Jackie; children, Kameron (LeAnna Kram), Justine (Tomi) Giwa, Karson (Amber), and Jordan (Travis) Zimmerman; the lights of his life, grandchildren, Leo Giwa, Lane and Kadyn Zimmerman, and Halie Duncanson; mother, Mary Duncanson; siblings, Joan (Rich) Elbert, Tom Duncanson, Pat (Kristin) Duncanson; beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family, blood or otherwise, particularly the Duncanson Growers family. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale and his much loved cousins, Lynn Duncanson and Joe Hengy.
