Goettl, age 76, of Mankato died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato with his family by his side. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Hosanna Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Heiden officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at church. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery in rural Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Francis was born March 17, 1939 to Clement and Marie (Schwaub) Goettl in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School and went on to serve in the National Guard for 4 years. On September 17, 1960, Francis was united in marriage to Barbara Hauch at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato. Together they were blessed with 5 children. Francis worked for MSU-Mankato for 28 years and MICO for 13 years. He also farmed all his life, in one way or another. Francis was a life-long member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, past member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and proud member of AFSCME Council and Union. He was passionate about farming, working on cars, driving the gator and always enjoyed mowing the lawn or snow blowing in the winter. Francis' family was his pride and joy. Francis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; children, Catherine (Albert) Block, Chris Goettl, Peter (Lisa) Goettl, Terry Goettl, and Tim Goettl; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Haefner; brothers, LaVern (Joan) Goettl, David (Cora) Goettl, and Adrian (MaryJo) Goettl; sisters-in-law, Joyce Goettl and Karon Herber; and many nieces and nephews. Francis was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Peter and Sophie Hauch; brother, Marland Goettl; daughter-in-law, Debra Goettl; and brothers-in-law, Sylvester Haefner and James Herber.
