Main Street Lake Crystal, MN 56055 (507) 726-6161 Katherine Mary Bowen Jones, age 87, died Friday morning, May 8, 2015, at her home in Crystal Seasons, Lake Crystal, with her family around her. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday at the Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Katherine was born October 22, 1927, in Cambria Township to David Evan and Viola (Price) Bowen. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1945 and on April 19, 1947 she married Darrel Jones. Together they raised 6 children and farmed in Judson Township until 1989 when they moved to Lake Crystal. Katherine was active in the community and her church, serving on school and community committees such as the United Way and GRACE. She also served as deacon and elder of Carmel Presbyterian Church and later as deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal. She was active in the Presbyterian Women's Association and served as president and in other offices. Katherine enjoyed reading, playing 500, bowling, and fishing, but her main focus was on her family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending their school and sports activities or just playing board games with them. As part of her commitment to her family she spent many years serving as Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, and Youth Fellowship leader. In her later years she became an avid fan of the Minnesota Lynx and loved attending the Lynx games with her daughters. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Doreen Rick of Mason City, IA, Duane Jones of Lake Crystal, Myron (Susan) Jones of Champlin, LeAnn Jones of LeCenter, Gloria Jones of Montrose, and Lynn (Al) Windschitl of New Ulm; nine grandchildren: Nellie (Steve) Scheurer, Tammy (Curt) Pacholke, Katie (Jason) Agar, Bob Jones, Andy Jones, Ben (Jenn) Jones, Lee (Traci) Windschitl, Krista Windschitl and special friend, Randy Mathiowetz, and Kyle Windschitl and special friend, Becca Yoakam; thirteen great-grandchildren, Katelind Jensen, Steve, Brooke, Tristan, and Teagan Scheurer, Ellie, Grant, and Addie Pacholke, Evan, Kadin, and Lincoln Jones, Austin Windschitl, and Jaelynn Windschitl; her sister, Helen Chirpich of Hopkins; sister-in-law, Viva Bowen of New Ulm; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herb and Miriam Jones of Lake Crystal; sister-in-law, VaLaine Larson of Red Wing; brother-in-law, Chuck Wiggins of Seattle, WA; many nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Darrel in 2005; and her three brothers, Ralph, Gordon, and Harlan.
