Mankato Mortuary 1001 N. Riverfront Drive Mankato, Minnesota 56001 507-388-2202 Elwood L. Pauley, age 91, of Madison Lake, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at Pathstone Living with his family by his side. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marysburg with Fr. Allan Paul Eilen officiating. Visitation will one hour before the service at church. A memorial service will also be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Pathstone Living Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Elwood was born March 29, 1924 to Leonard and Jessie (Woods) Pauley in Lewisville, MN. He graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato. Elwood honorably served his country in the Army Air Corp. from 1943-1946. On April 14, 1948, Elwood was united in marriage to Frances McKee in Mankato, together they were blessed with two daughters. He owned and operated L. M. Pauley Grain & Feed in downtown Mankato. Elwood was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Blue Earth County Conservation Clud. Elwood had a passion for nature and being outdoors, he loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman. His love of flying and aviation adventures were part of his heart. Even right up until the end, even though he could no longer pilot, he would ask to go up in the air. He was always a mentor and supporter, even while in Pathstone he encouraged others. He especially supported and enjoyed his family, which mattered most of all to him. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 67 years, Frances; daughters, JoAnne (Larry) Sundem and Jean (Kurt) Pauley Witbeck; grandchildren, Melissa (Chad) Genereux, Eric Sundem, Daniel, Luke (Jade), Matthew (Gretchen) and Krista Johnson; great-grandchildren, Anabelle, Lilly, Brodie, Gabbie, Norman and Annie Rose; sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Small and Sandra Pauley; and many nieces and nephews. Elwood was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Vince) Schwieger and Bonnie (John) Scherer.
