Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Surrounded by her family, Marion Evelyn Monson Kiecker, 83, of Mankato died peacefully on May 1, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato after 9 years with lung cancer. She was a non-smoker. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato (320 East Main Street), with Pastor Scott Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive), and also one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family inurnment will be at the Augustana Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gibbon at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, The Salvation Army, or donor's choice. Marion was born on April 7, 1932, in New Ulm to Elmer and Evelyn (Blaalid) Monson. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she was both baptized and confirmed. After graduating from Gibbon High School, she received her nursing degree from Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. She married Thomas B. Kiecker in 1953. They later divorced. Marion worked as a Registered Nurse at the Mankato Clinic, the Mankato Lutheran Home, and Hillcrest Nursing Home during her professional career. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. She was an avid traveler, enjoyed music, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Marion is survived by her three children, David Kiecker of Mankato, Pamela Kiecker Royall and William A. Royall, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, and Mark and Denise Kiecker of Mankato; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel of Mankato; and her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Dale Ericson of Gibbon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
