Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Jacqueline Florence "Jackie" May, age 87, of Le Sueur and formerly of North Mankato, died Monday, April 27, 2015, at her home. Memorial Service will be 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Northview. Memorials may be given to the Carnegie Art Center in Mankato. Jackie was born January 20, 1928, in Rockford, IL to Paul and Florence (Reed) Heitner. She was a graduate of Mankato High School. Jackie was united in marriage to Darnell "Bud" May in 1948 in Mankato. Together they raised six children. Jackie went back to school in 1975 at Mankato State University and went on to receive her Master's Degree. She taught art and special education in Fairmont, St. Peter, and Mankato. After her retirement, Jackie continued to teach art at her private studio in Mankato. She was involved with the Carnegie Art Center in Mankato, the Region 9 Art Center, and the Prairie Lakes Art Council. Jackie enjoyed art, painting, music, playing piano, and flower gardening. Jackie is survived by her six children, Linda Collmann of Queen Valley, AZ, Thomas (Pamela) May of North Mankato, John May of Maiden Rock, WI, Nancy (Joe) Driscoll of Le Sueur, Melissa May of Charleston, SC, and Jim May of Garden City; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick Heitner of Le Center; one sister, Sharon (Ron) Ahlers of Fridley; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen; husband, Bud in 1978; and a grandson, Christopher.
