Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Geraldine Rae Ida Evers, age 80, of North Mankato, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato, surrounded by her family. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Jay Dahlvang, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hillcrest Health Care Center. Geraldine was born December 31, 1934 and was placed in Lutheran Children's Friends Society Orphanage and adopted by August and Agnes (Heyn) Heiser in 1935. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Mankato. She attended District 53 school and graduated from Mankato High School. She married Edward Wachtel on August 19, 1954 and they later divorced. She married Charles Evers on October 7, 1978 and they resided in North Mankato. Jeri was employed at the Mankato State University registrar's office for 24 years, retiring in 1998. Jeri was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Eagles Auxiliary # 269, DAV Auxiliary #10, and American Legion Auxiliary #518. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, her dogs, playing cards, gardening, stamp collecting, and family gatherings. Jeri is survived by a daughter, Diane (Arland) Mann of Mankato; eight sons, Darryl Wachtel of North Mankato, Joel (Marlyce) Wachtel of Mankato, Mike (Wendy) Wachtel of Eagle Lake, Jim Wachtel, Jon (Cindee) Wachtel all of Mankato, Eddie (Tammy) Wachtel of Chaska, Pete (Denice) Wachtel of North Mankato, and Marty Wachtel of St. Peter; two stepsons, Lon (Audrey) Evers and Jon (Chris) Evers all of New Ulm; 38 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Lindberg of North Mankato; two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Patti) Evers of Redwood Falls and Doug (Denise) Evers of New Ulm; three sisters-in-law, Linda Hanson of New Ulm, Sharon Clyne of New Ulm, Paula Evers of Lafayette; many nieces and nephews; and many extended family. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 2005; two great-grandsons; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
