Visitation will be held Thursday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hosanna Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to the service at church. Final arrangements with Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary. Jerry John Hellie was born December 5, 1948 in Albert Lea to Clarence and Jeane Hellie. Jerry was proud to be in the United States Air Force and lived his life by their core values: integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all you do. He entered the service June 20, 1968 and served our country until December 23, 1971. He trained at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas before his tour of duty in Thailand where he spent his time intercepting Vietnamese messages. Jerry married Roberta Lynch January 15, 1972 at Chapel Church in Gladbrook, Iowa. He worked hard as a traffic manager at Ben Franklin, managed Pizza Hut, Godfather's Pizza, and opened his own restaurant "Corral" in Conrad, Iowa. Finishing his career as an advertising specialist with Promotion Works and his brother-in-law, Dale Wacholz. In 1995, Jerry suffered a stroke. In his spare time, Jerry loved fishing, hunting, working on puzzles, playing pfeffer, and watching baseball; from his grandchildren's little league games to the Minnesota Twins. His favorite time was spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion Post 518 and color guard. Jerry died April 26, 2015 at Oaklawn Health Care Center. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; son, Jeff (Blanca); daughter, Angie (Jason); grandchildren, Jordan, Cole, Carter, Skylar and Gabi; sister, Carolyn (Dale) Wacholz; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and son, Christopher.
