Anderson, age 96, of North Mankato, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living, North Mankato. Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the mortuary on Tuesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Howard was born March 1, 1919 to Ruben S. and Ora M. (Compton) Anderson in Waseca, MN. He was united in marriage to Evelyn C. Weber on August 2, 1945 in Great Falls, Montana. Howard served his country with the National Guard and then the US Air Corps as a B17 Bomber pilot during World War II. He was stationed in England and flew 35 missions over Germany and France. Howard worked for a brief time as a parts man at Miller Motors and then for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier retiring in March of 1984 after 39 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and VFW Post 950. He enjoyed golfing, camping, and spending time in the summer at their lake home on Cross Lake. Howard is survived by his wife, Ev; son, Jim (Connie) Anderson of Mankato; daughter, Carol Anderson of Hopkins; two grandsons, Nick (Amanda) Anderson of Falls Church, VA and Ben (Natasha) Anderson of Edina; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose; niece, Linda (Russ) Flowers; nephew, David Stierlen. Howard was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Anderson and sister, Ardis Ohnstad.
