Mankato Mortuary 1001 North Riverfront Drive Mankato , MN 56001 507-388-2202 Funeral services for Ethel Haugly, age 78 of Mankato will be held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015. Visitation will held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the church. Ethel Marie Haugly was a gift of God to her parents Charles and Florence Willming (nee McKinnon) on March 16, 1937 in Clayton, MO. Ethel attended Normandy High School and participated in school choirs, athletics and played the violin in the orchestra. During her high school years she worked as manager in a variety store. In 1953, Ethel met Lawrence Spencer Haugly while he was attending Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis. On December 31, 1960 Ethel married Lawrence Haugly at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Mankato, MN. Ethel received Adult Instruction Classes in the Lutheran Christian faith from Pastor Raymond Haase. On June 11, 1961, Ethel became a child of God through Holy Baptism and confessed her Christian faith at her confirmation. Ethel was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and participated in the choir and OWLS organization. Ethel was a stay-at-home mom for many years and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and ceramics. In 1990, Ethel started working part-time at Hickory Tech Telephone Company and retired in 1998. Ethel and Lawrence enjoyed many years at a lake home near Alexandria, MN. In May of 2004, Ethel and Lawrence moved to Lenexa, KS to be close to family due to Lawrence's health needs. During their time in Kansas, Ethel and Lawrence were members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Overland Park, KS. In 2012, Ethel moved back to Mankato to be closer to family once again and re-joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Mankato. Our Lord called Ethel to her eternal rest on April 8, 2015 at the age of 78 years. Ethel is survived by: two sons, David (Sheri) Haugly of Fond du Lac, WI; Robert (Shirlee) of Aitkin, MN; one daughter, Donna (Robert) Fosburgh of North Mankato, MN; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Daniel and Rachel of Fond du Lac, WI, Alyssa, Krysta, Bryan and Bryce of Aitkin, MN, Kira, Blake and Lexi of North Mankato, MN; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Weberg of Gaylord, MN; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Ethel's earthly remains will be laid to rest next to husband at Lenexa Cemetery, Lenexa, KS to await the resurrection to eternal life. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. "Yes," says the Spirit, "They will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." Revelation 14:13
