Northview~North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56001 (507) 388-2288 Richard Edward Koehler, age 66, of North Mankato, MN passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of April 4, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Northview- North Mankato Mortuary on Commerce Drive. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at Northview. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Rick was born on May 5, 1948 to Henry and Mildred (Anderson) Koehler. He was one of 14 children. Rick attended school in Amboy, MN before serving in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He married Patti (Mekeland) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center, MN on June 23, 1973. Rick spent 36 years as a Certified Public Accountant, providing advice and tax services to countless families in Southern MN as well as friends and family sprinkled throughout the states. In addition to his business, Rick was a proud and devoted father, husband, brother and friend who enjoyed golfing, watching sports (especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings) and spending time with his family. Throughout his life, Rick found great enjoyment and comfort in dutifully maintaining the family farm on which he was raised in rural Amboy. Those who knew him best will remember and miss Rick's generosity, kindness, and the reliable advice he offered. Rick is survived by his wife, Patti Koehler; daughter, Sarah Koehler; siblings, Norman (Georgean) Schaible, Nancy Schaible, Tom (Jan) Schaible, Bob (Carol) Schaible, Harriet Glackler, Diane Patrick, Phyllis (Mike) Brunswick, Karen (Dick) Thorman, and Steve (Barb) Koehler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mildred; infant sister, Gloria Koehler; brothers, Ronnie Koehler, Bill Schaible; and sister, Mary Ann Caswell.
