Mapleton, MN 56065 (507) 524-3616 Leroy "Buster" Charles Henry Baack, age 90 of Mapleton, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Vicki Hultine officiating. Private family burial will be at Union Cemetery in Mapleton. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, or the John Hopkins Auto Immune Research Center. Leroy, son of Charles John Baack and Lula (Bushman) Baack, was born on December 26, 1924 in Woden, IA. He graduated from Ventura High School in Iowa in 1942. He served in the United States Army Air Corp. and 544th Field Artillery in New Guinea and Luzon, Philippine Islands. After the service, he returned to Mapleton in 1946 and married Pauline Alschlager on November 1, 1947. Leroy owned and operated Baack Construction Company for 42 years, building over 60 homes in the Mapleton area. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, charter and lifetime member of the Mapleton VFW and Minnesota Lake American Legion. He was a member of the Mapleton City Council and was on the board for the Mapleton Community Home for 25 years. On September 1, 1994 he married Norma Blaisdell. Buster enjoyed watching the Maple River softball team and tooling around town on his scooter checking out all the building and construction projects going on. Leroy is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons and their wives, Charles and Debra of Fort Myers, FL and Robert and Brenda of Mapleton; daughter and her husband, Debra and Douglas Ireland of Mapleton; step-daughter, Bonnie Grussing and family; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson and six great-granddaughters; sister-in-law, Everald (Noot) Ogan of St. Helens, OR. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; parents; five sisters, Edith Baack, Velma Moler, Eunice Follin, Ruby Hutchinson, and Betty McMichael.
