Northview - North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Richard Alan Junker, age 87, of North Mankato, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at Oak Terrace in North Mankato. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive,. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at Northview and continues one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato Hospice. Richard was born December 31, 1927, in Hudson, WI. He was the son of Joseph and Iva (Hagen) Junker. Richard was a 1945 graduate of Stillwater High School. He served overseas in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947. Following his discharge, he attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Gamm on September 4, 1948, in Stillwater. He worked in finance and sales before building and operating Junker's in North Mankato. Richard was a member of VFW Post 950, American Legion Post 11, and the Elk's Lodge in Mankato. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and watching sports. Richard will be remembered as a devoted family man. His love and compassion as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather will forever be cherished. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara of North Mankato; one daughter, Susan (Jim) Schindle of North Mankato; one son, Richard "Rick" (Christine) Junker Jr. of Mankato; five grandchildren, Matthew (Jennie) Schindle, Timothy Schindle, Sara (special friend, Cara) Junker, Marta (Christopher) Krosch, and Laura (fiancé, Matt) Junker; ten great-grandchildren, Callie, Kyle, Alan, McKenna, Nathan, Tealy, Ellie, Cale, Toby, and Corbin; two brothers and two sisters; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
