"Grandma Bea" Bill, age 92, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, surrounded by her family at Pathstone Crossing in Mankato. Berneita was born March 26, 1922, in Lake Crystal to George E. and Nora A. (Larson) Ballard. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1940. She attended Mankato School of Cosmetology, owning her own business in Lake Crystal. She married James A. Bill on May 21, 1943, at Pearl River, New York. They moved to Madelia where she was a homemaker and helped in the J.J. Bill and Son Drug & Jewelry Store & Fashion Lane with her husband. She'll be remembered as "Grandma Bea" to everyone. Berneita was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, the Circles, W.E.L.C.A, she served as Sunday School teacher, assisted with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, served on the Luther Memorial Home Board, and did volunteer work at the Luther Memorial Home. She enjoyed traveling, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sewing, crocheting, and hardanger. Berneita is survived by a son, John D. Bill and wife, Kathy of North Mankato; daughter, Joan McCormick and husband, Michael of Mahtomedi; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; very special friend, Jack Leverson; and extended family. Berneita was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora; husband, James; son, Jamie; infant son, Thomas; and sister, Georgene (Ronald) Queen. A Private Family Burial will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Madelia, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Madelia Community Hospital.
