"Claudia" Johnson, age 80, of Mankato, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Steve Kosberg officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Madelia. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements. Memorials are preferred to ARC Minnesota Southwest. Claudia was born July 11, 1934, in Montevideo. She was the daughter of Guldmar and Vernie (Anderson) Neslund. Claudia was a 1952 graduate of Edison High School in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Loyal Johnson on March 10, 1956, in New Brighton. Earlier in life, Claudia was employed with the Madelia Clinic and the Madelia Times Messenger. She worked at the Mankato Free Press from 1989 until 2000, and was also with ARC Minnesota. Claudia was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, the Sertoma Club, and the Harry Meyering Center Board. She enjoyed attending theater plays, movies, ink stamping, and time spent with her family. Claudia is survived by her daughter, Stacy (Shawn) Gappa of St. James; sons, Brent (Heidi) Johnson of Vernon Center and Ross (Sue) Johnson of Mankato; seven grandchildren, Miles (Lisa), Lexy, Erica, Anika, Maddie, Isaac, and Jacob; two sisters, Fran (Donald) Halva of Arden Hills and Bonnie (John) Traver of White Bear Lake Twp.; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loyal in 1980; and a daughter, Heather.
