Erma Mary (Goodrich) Juliar was born on a family farm in Pemberton April 16, 1923 to Ray and Neva (Kitch) Goodrich, the youngest of five children. It was during a high school basketball game that Erma met her future husband Virgil Juliar. The couple would eventually marry November 25, 1946 at Pemberton Congregational Church. Together, they would have two children, Jean and Arnie. For over 25 years the couple loved spending time at their cabin on Duck Lake near Madison Lake. After retirement, they wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona as Erma really enjoyed the heat and looking at the stars every night. Erma was musically skilled and played the organ, piano and accordion; sharing her talents with many over the years. Erma and Virgil made Hilltop United Methodist their church home for many years and relied on faith through life's tough times. Erma's favorite past times were crocheting, assembling puzzles and playing cards with her grandchildren Jared and Rachel. She couldn't wait to start a new round of cards with her great granddaughter Shelbi in Heaven. She was able to join her parents and great granddaughter Shelbi in Heaven on February 24, 2015 when she passed away at Laurels Peak. She was survived by her husband Virgil Juliar of Mankato; children, Jean (Roger) Vogt of Owatonna and Arnie Juliar of Mankato; grandchildren, Rachel (Mark) Nelson and their daughter Leah and Jared (Becky) Juliar and their son Loghan; sister Gladys McMillin of Spencer, IA, sister-in-law Bonnie Goodrich of Orange, CA; brother-in-law, Orvis (Marilyn) Juliar of Jensen Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, great granddaughter, Shelbi Lyn Juliar, sister, Fae Geise and her husband, Lawrence, brothers, Glenn Goodrich and Elmer Goodrich and his wife, Beulah; brothers-in-law, Lester McMillin and Lorin Juliar and his wife, Arlene. A special thank you to the loving care provided to Erma by Laurels Peak and Laurels Edge and to the staff at Mayo Hospice. Memorials are preferred to Hilltop United Methodist Church.
