Ganske Dale Ganske, age 81 of Mankato, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Keystone Senior Living Center in Mankato, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with brain cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with Rev. Roger Knepprath officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Northview~North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be at Kern's Oak Grove Cemetery in North Mankato. Dale was born September 22, 1933 in Montevideo, MN to Emil and Ida (Enz) Ganske. He grew up and received his education in the Mankato area, graduating from Mankato High School in 1952. After graduation, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1957. On February 2, 1954 he was united in marriage to Wanda Rae Harris in Fairmont, MN. Following their marriage they lived in Japan, California and Fairmont before making their home in North Mankato. Dale was a business manager and bookkeeper for many years, and over the course of his career, worked at Brennan's, Minnegasco, and Kaye Corporation, before running his own upholstery business. He was very proud of his faith in God and was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served in many roles. He was also a member of the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). In his 70's, Dale discovered his passion for bicycling, and proudly participated in the Bike MS: TRAM Ride across Minnesota several times. Dale is survived by his wife, Wanda; children Daniel (Nancy) Ganske of Park Rapids, MN and Jayne (Ben) Heintz of North Mankato, MN; grandchildren April (Tim) Pearson, Heidi Ganske, Natalie Heintz, Benjamin (Anne) Heintz, and Max Heintz; great-grandchildren Andrew, Nicholas, Evan and Blake; siblings Al (Iva) Ganske of Eagle Lake, MN, Verna Cole of Lomita, CA, Roy (Maxine) Ganske of Mankato, MN, Gene (Roberta) Ganske of Mankato, Ardis Ganske of Mankato, and sister-in law Sandy Ganske of Mankato; brothers-in-law Perry Harris of Fairmont, and Jack Silker of Baxter, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Jerry Ganske; and his sisters-in-law Joan Silker, Neva Kost, and LaVonne Harris and brother-in-law Art Kost. His family extends a heartfelt thank you to Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Dale during the past several months, and to the staff at Keystone for all of their love and compassionate care during the past year and a half. Every caregiver was his angel here on earth and now he is their angel in heaven.
