Marble, age 89, of Mankato, died Monday, January 26, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato with his family by his side. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Hilltop United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Vanderwerf officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at church and will continue one hour before the service. Burial will be in Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault County, MN. Memorials are preferred to Hilltop UMC, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at MCHS-Mankato, or donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Dean was born August 7, 1925 to Claude and Maggie (Hislop) Marble in Mankato. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1943. Following graduation, Dean honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 in the south Pacific. On September 10, 1947, Dean was united in marriage to Janet Yonkey at Rice Lake Ev. Church. Dean was a farmer for 18 years in the Walters area. Later, He was a Sr. Auditor in the Grain Division for the State of Minnesota for over 26 years. He was an active member of Hilltop UMC, Dean served as a board member, trustee, usher and was on the building committee. Dean loved to travel, wintering in Mesa, AZ, golfing and spending time at their cabin on Lake Jefferson. Dean is survived by his wife, Janet of Mankato; daughter, Maurine (Melvin) Rettig of Grand Junction, CO; son, Duane (Janice) Marble of Mankato; five grandchildren, Margo Rettig, Major (Sarah) Rettig, Matthew (Carissa) Rettig, Angela Marble, and Kelly (Mike) Vandermuss; and three great-grandchildren, Parker Rettig, Archer Vandermuss, and Keturah Rettig. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Timothy; brother, Bruce; and sisters, Bernita and Janet.
