Carolyn Kawell

Riverfront Dr. Mankato, MN 56001 (507) 388-2202 A gathering of friends and family for Carolyn Kawell, age 96 of Mankato will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m Friday, January 23, 2015 at Mankato Mortuary. A private family service will take place at a later date. Burial will be held at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery on Friday; allowing for the couple to never spend an anniversary apart. Carolyn was born October 3, 1918, the youngest of four children born to Christian and Maria (Gerholz) Menk. She grew up on a family farm in Nicollet County where she learned the value of hard day's work. Carolyn married Robert Kawell January 24, 1942 and together operated Bob's Electronic Sales. They took pride in being one of Mankato's long time businesses. Carolyn was faithfully devoted to reading the bible and being an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she was one of the founding members. Carolyn was proud to have started the Young at Heart group and work with the Vacation Bible School program. Carolyn loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and beloved dog, Smokey who was always at her side. Carolyn died at her home January 17, 2015, after a beautiful life of 96 years. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Tom) Zimmerman of Southaven, MS, Ginger Kawell (Bill) Mevissen of Montrose, Connie (Steven) Eccles of Eagle Lake; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
