Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Vera Amelia Kreutzer, age 88, of Mankato died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Cottagewood Senior Communities of Mankato. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2015 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Mortuary. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. Vera was born July 16, 1926 to William Cleveland and Elizabeth Jane (Evans) Harris in New Ulm. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to George J. Kreutzer on September 25, 1948 at SS Peter and Paul parish house in Mankato. During World War II, Vera and a friend worked in Seattle, WA building airplanes as part of the war effort. She returned to Mankato and started working for Kresge's Dime Store, then Continental Can Co., Mankato Paper Box Co., Midtex, and last for Midwest Electric from which she retired in 1986. Vera was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its ladies guild, Women's Moose Lodge, and WIBC. Vera enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling, and traveling. Vera is survived by her three children, Gary (Debbie) Kreutzer of Aspen, CO, Jo Bauleke of North Mankato, Andrea (Roger) Schmidt of Madison Lake; one grandson, Michael (Amber) Kalis of LeSueur; two great-grandsons, Zackery and Nathan Kalis; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 1990; three brothers, Earl Harris, Harold Harris, Harlan Harris; sister, Grace Hewitt.
