Lyle Jorgenson Lyle J. Jorgenson, age 87 of Mankato, died on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Arrangements are with Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery. Lyle was born on May 26, 1927 to Peter and Mable (Iverson) Jorgenson in Westbrook, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Westbrook, MN. Lyle was united in marriage to Marlys Grams on September 15, 1951. Lyle graduated from Westbrook High School in 1945 and was immediately drafted into the military. He served in Germany in World War II and was discharged in 1947. His work career included; grocery store as a meat cutter, working at a local hardware store, and owning and operating International Harvester Business with Bob Gebhardt. He enjoyed working in the farming community, selling Farmall tractors and providing parts needed for farming operations. He eventually sold his business to move his family to Mankato in 1959 where his son, Larry, who had Cerebral Palsy, could receive better care. He then worked for a short time at International Harvester Dealer before working as a Parts Manager for the Heintz Pontiac Cadillac dealer until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, he worked for G & L Parts, delivering parts to businesses in the Mankato area. He loved his work and enjoyed working with people. Lyle and his family are Charter Members of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He had the joy of witnessing Christ the King being built just down the street from his home. He served on the Steering Committee when the church began and also many other committees. Lyle was also a volunteer for VINE. Lyle enjoyed woodworking and had remolded his home in Westbrook. His other hobbies included camping and square dancing; he belonged to the Circle Eight Square Dance Club and also enjoyed going to Canada to dance with friends there. Lyle is survived by his wife, Marlys; children, Marilyn Hagge, Larry Jorgenson, and Nancy (Steve) Clarke; sister-in-laws, Caryol (Marvin) Einertson, Audrey Slingsby; nieces, Kathy Thomas and Susan (Bruce) Burnett; nephews, Tom Hoerr, Dr. Robert (Sonja) Einertson, and Mark Slingsby; and other relatives and friends. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Francile Rohlfs and Frances Hoerr; brother-in-laws, Harry Rohlfs, John Hoerr, and Jack Slingsby; son-in-law, Garry Hagge; nieces, Judy Rohlfs and Brenda Einertson Kalkbrenner; nephews, Wayne and Keith Rohlfs; and his mother and father-in-law, Herman and Alma Grams. Memorials preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church or VINE.
