Donald "Hunsie" Solyntjes

Donald "Hunsie" Solyntjes, age 60, of Mankato, died on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at his home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Tim Biren officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. rosary at Northview. Private family burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Donald was born on September 15, 1954 in Mankato to Bernard and Dolores (Wagner) Solyntjes. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1973. Hunsie was united in marriage to Carol Lodes on July 8, 1978. In his younger years he loved working with his father, who was a brick layer. He worked at Cotter and Company/True Value for 34 years. Hunsie played softball on the Cotter softball team. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He also enjoyed playing pool and fishing. Hunsie is survived by his wife, Carol; siblings, Bill (Chris) Solyntjes, Bonnie (Charlie) Friedrichs, DeAnn Friedrichs, Tom (Jenny) Solyntjes, and Sue (Terry) Fischer; many nieces and nephews; and his four legged buddy, Doc. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Friedrichs.
