Mankato Mortuary 1001 N. Riverfront Drive Mankato, MN 56001 (507) 388-2202 Joanne L. "Joannie" Schaub, age 71, of Mankato died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Memorials may be given to Loyola Catholic School, American Diabetes Association, or an organization of the donor's choice. Joanne was born February 10, 1943 to Leslie S. and Elizabeth "Deaf" (Ferris) Allen in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1961 and attended Mankato State College. She was united in marriage to Howard J. Schaub on September 5, 1963 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Joanne worked for her uncle, Harold "Cub" Ferris, for many years, then Kato Sanitation which became the Ponderosa as a bookkeeper, Rug and Carpet Caretakers, and then Thayer Publishing until her retirement. Joanne was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a charter member of the Morson-Ario VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed cake decorating, cooking, baking, and traveling with school friends, especially her trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. Joanne is survived by her sister, Nancy (Frank) Magill of Portland, OR; brother, Leslie (Martha) Allen; sister-in-law, Susan Allen; aunt, Millie Daufenbach all of Mankato; special niece, Carrie Allen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard, on May 1, 1993; brother, Charles "Chuck"; and sister, Sheila.
