Northview - North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 (507) 388-2288 Gary Wayne Morphew, age 75, of Mankato, died Friday, October 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family from complications of Alzheimer's. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Jay Dahlvang, officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice. Gary was born March 30, 1939 to Orrie and Selma (Olson) Morphew in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School. Gary was united in marriage to Carole A. Swartout on April 27, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. He worked at Northstar Concrete for many years as a computer programmer until his retirement. Gary was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a member of Sertoma and an active volunteer for many organizations including, Habitat for Humanity, Echo Food Shelf, and BENCHS. He was very interested in genealogy and tracing his family's history. He loved working in his yard, reading, and spending time with his grandkids. Gary is survived by his three daughters, Deb (Roger) Pipes of North Mankato, Terri (Kevin) Friesen of Grand Rapids, MN, Sharon Herzog of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Gary (Amanda) Pipes of North Mankato, Hannah Friesen of Grand Rapids, MN, Natalie Friesen of Grand Rapids, MN, Eric Pipes of North Mankato, Emily Pipes of North Mankato; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Blake, and Bailey Pipes; four sisters-in-law, Betty Morphew of Arizona, Jan (Tom) Tonneson of North Mankato, Jeri Schmit of Ventura, IA, Pat (Stan) Petersen of North Mankato; brother-in-law, Jim (Cathy) Swartout of Lake Crystal; three nieces, Wendy, Carol, and Paula Morphew; and extended family. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carole on December 23, 2010; an infant sister; and three brothers, Orval, Gordon, and Ray (Lewanne) Morphew.
