Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN 56003 507-388-2288 Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Friedrichs, age 75 of Mankato will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary with a 3:45 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at the church from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery. Carol Ann was born in Mankato to George and Marcella (Haefner) Thissen on May 10, 1939. She had two brothers, Gary and David; as a child she loved to play marbles and was a marble champion. She married Jerome "Jay" Friedrichs May 5, 1959 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Together the couple had four children. After graduating from Loyola High School, Carol worked for Norwest Bank as a teller. In her free time, Carol was a talented crafter and seamstress; leaving many creative and unique gifts for her children and grandchildren to treasure. She liked to follow the Minnesota Vikings. She enjoyed listening and dancing to the country music played by her brothers, as they entertained many crowds. She loved to entertain her own family, always having cinnamon rolls and her famous hot beef sandwiches to share. Carol passed away surrounded by the family she loved on October 27, 2014 at her home. She is survived by her children, Julie (Kevin) Koempel of Lakeville, Jeffrey Friedrichs of Phoenix, AZ, Douglas (Jodi) Friedrichs of Sauk Rapids, Brad (Amy) Friedrichs of Eagle Lake; brothers, Gary Thissen of Mankato and David (Maureen) Thissen of Yuma, AZ; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jay in 2005.
