Fern M. Mosher, age 84, of rural St. Clair, was welcomed home into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Laurel's Peak in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair with Rev. Matthew Grunewald officiating. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Fern Mosher was born July 23, 1927, to Oscar and Myrtle (Lowe) Shaw in Butternut, Minnesota. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1945. Following graduation she worked as a nurses aid at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato. On December 8, 1951, Fern was united in marriage to Willis Mosher in Mankato. Together they farmed and raised their family in rural St. Clair. Fern was also employed by the Burton Hotel and Mankato House Health Care Center.
Fern enjoyed cooking, reading and especially spending time with her family. She was always kind, compassionate, and generous to everyone who knew her. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. Clair.
Fern is survived by her five children, Caryl (Gary) Olson of Austin, Sharon (Tom Veigel) Johnson of Belview, Eileen (Michael) Oachs of rural Mankato, Joel (Tamera) Mosher of rural Mankato, and Lois (Roger) Nicholas of Eagan; fourteen grandchildren, Keri (Matt) Doyle, Kimberly (Marc) LeDuc, Lisa (Phil) Lentz, Brian Johnson, Laura Johnson, Jamie (Amy) Oachs, Jason (Nicole) Oachs, Julie Oachs, Kara and Konner Melvin, Kory Mosher, Ashley and Robert Bullock, and Brian Nicholas; seven great-grandchildren, Lance and Larissa Oachs, William Oachs, Cash, Creed, and Cheyenne Oachs-Wallin, Kaden Lentz; sister, Janet Shaw; brother, Richard (Pat) Shaw; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Lundgren, Helen Shaw, Lorraine Birk, Friedella Mosher, Dean (Deloris) Mosher; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; parents, step-mother, Dora; two sisters, Wilma and Grace; brother, Ralph, son-in-law, Ron Johnson, three brothers-in-law, Lee Mosher, Ken Mosher, and Art Birk.
