Sharon Marie Matzke, age 63, of rural Good Thunder, lost her battle with cancer in this life at home on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, surrounded by her family and she entered Paradise in Heaven with Our Father.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr., officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Good Thunder. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Friday at NORTHVIEW-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Sharon was born January 26, 1949 to Harold and Evelyn (Ogren) Shaw in Fairmont. She graduated from Welcome High School in 1967. She was united in marriage to Dwayne Matzke on August 13, 1994 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Sharon had been employed by ISJ Hospital and Mankato Clinic in medical transcription. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she had been the school secretary and church choir director. She enjoyed helping on the farm, traveling, flower gardening, spending time at the lake, bird watching, and especially spoiling her grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Dwayne of rural Good Thunder; daughter, Lisa (Ryan) Visher of Madelia, son, Andrew (Jackie) Bergemann of Good Thunder, daughter, Ashley Bergemann and fianc", Anthony Baldini of Winona; stepson, Michael Matzke of Mankato; grandchildren, Sidney, Riley and Christian Visher of Madelia, Allison, Paige, and Parker Bergemann of Good Thunder; step-grandchildren, Lucas (Anne) Matzke of Boulder, CO; Lindsey Matzke of Mankato; step great-grandson, Anders Matzke; three brothers, Richard (Charlotte) Shaw of Tucson, AZ, Dale (Linda) Shaw, Kevin (Lynette) Shaw all of Welcome; sister, Kathleen (John) VonBank of Fairmont; two sisters-in-law, LouJean Mathiason of Inver Grove Heights and Virginia Reedstrom of Prescott, WI; aunt, Dorothy Schultz; uncle, William Willeford; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two infant step-sons; and extended family.
