Marguerite E. McGill

Marguerite E. McGill, age 99 of Windom, formerly of northern Iowa, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Dan Weise officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at church Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Marguerite Elizabeth was born February 16, 1913 to Max and Lydia (Ehling) Nauman in Rockford, IA. She was one of 13 children in her family. Marguerite married Grant Sheldon on May 30, 1935 in Albert Lea, MN. Through the years, they operated grocery stores and restaurants in northern Iowa. Later, they operated the Red Rock Cafe in Jeffers, MN before Grant's passing in 1979. Marguerite had been residing at the Good Samaritan Center in Windom, MN before moving to Oaklawn in Mankato last fall. She loved traveling, needlework, and painting.

Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Gene) Baer of Mankato; five grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma White and Maxine Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her granddaughter, Julie Ann; five brothers and five sisters.
