Stanley J. Johnson, age 87, of Mankato, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at Keystone Communities of Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at NORTHVIEW - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday.
Stan was born August 25, 1924 to Albert and Ruby (Phelps) Johnson. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1942. During World War II he served in the Japanese Islands in a supply unit of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Last Mans Club. Stan was united in marriage to Marian Drummer on January 11th 1947 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. That would begin a period of 65 years of married life which they most recently celebrated with all of their children present. Stan was employed by Marigold Dairies for over 30 years in Mankato.
People who knew Stan will remember a laid back, fun-loving person with an ever-present sense of humor. His wife and children always knew they had his love and support. He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
Stan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian, six children, Don (Jan) Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ, Linda (Doug) Reichert of Denver, CO, Carol (Jim) Wandersee of Mankato, Dave (Donna) Johnson of South St. Paul, Mary (Marty) Cassem of Lake Crystal, and Jeff (Lorna) Johnson of Nicollet; son-in-law, Roger Funfsinn of Mankato; seventeen grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; brother, Wally (Joyce) Johnson of Mapleton; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Jane Funfsinn in 2000; and his brother, Harlan.
